About our search

The search on BBC Green is a little different to the search you may have used on other websites.

We've tried to give you more relevant results not just from BBC Green but also from other websites that cover green living. The list of sites we search is a work in progress, read on if you have any suggestions of sites to include or other improvements to our search.

The search results page

When you submit a search you’ll be taken to a search results page. This page has the top five links for both ‘BBC Green results’ and ‘recommended sites results’. You can view all of these results by clicking on the links provided. The difference between these is explained below.

What if no results are found?

If our search returns no results you can try similar words or a simpler search. For example instead of ‘what is the best green boiler’ just search for ‘boiler’. If we still return no results and there is something you would like to see on the site then please suggest it to the editor.

What are 'BBC Green results?'

These are pages on bbcgreen.com that are relevant to your search. There are ten results per page. If there are more than one page of results you can navigate between these pages by clicking on the numbers for each page or the ‘previous’ and ‘next’ links.

You can also click on the recommended sites results link to see these results.

What are 'recommended sites results?'

These are pages on other websites that match your search. The websites that are searched have been handpicked by the BBC Green team. The sites do not pay to be included in our search; the aim is to provide you with a resource to find the best environmental information on the web.

Like BBC Green results there are ten results per page and you can navigate between the pages using the same links as shown above.

How do I get my site listed in recommended sites?

We are happy to consider any website that covers green or ethical issues but it is the editor’s decision which sites are included. Our criteria are a mixture of quality, relevance and depth of content.
